Bourjois the brand was created in 1863 within the theatre district of Paris by actor Joseph-Albert Ponsin, who used to prepare the makeup and perfumes for actors and actresses in his own home. In 1868, he entrusted his entire activities to Monsieur Alexandre-Napoleon Bourjois and it blossomed, making Bourjois internationally known. The first creations of this makeup master were waxy makeup sticks in many colours to give the theatre more dramatic effects and appearances. Building from there to powders, pencils and perfumes in the 1920’s as demand for feminine beauty products grew. Now with thousands of different items available, Bourjois is truly a star of the cosmetics world.
