Jean Patou, a designer, creator and hedonist was born in Normany, France. The family business helped him reveal his talents as since 1907 he started working with his uncle in the furs business. In 1912 he moved to Paris and opened a small fashion-dressmaking atelier Maison Parry. After World War I disturbs his career (he served as a military captain at the Dardanelle front) he reopened his boutique in 1919, this time under his own name. His first fragrances were Amour Amour (devoted to brunettes), Que Sais-Je? (for blondes) and Adieu Sagesse (for red-heads). His most famous perfume Joy was created in 1925 and is still a worldwide favourite. The Jean Patou name has 49 perfumes in its fragrance base.
