Tommy Hilfiger - Thomas Jacob Hilfiger is the designer behind the Tommy Hilfiger clothing and fragrance lines. Born and raised in Elmira, New York, Tommy started in the fashion industry as a retailer. He opened his first boutique called The People’s Place in his hometown. The boutique expanded to a small chain of stores before folding in the 1970’s, prompting Hilfiger to move to New York City and full-time work as a designer. He founded the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation in 1984 and introduced his first line of menswear. His clothing lines were so popular and in time he dressed a variety of stars including Britney Spears, David Bowie and even Snoop Dogg. Tommy Hilfiger introduced his first fragrance in conjunction with Estee Lauder in 1995. Tommy for Men was an instant best-seller and led to the production of over 50 other perfumes for men and women. Some well-known names include Freedom, Loud, Girl and Tommy.
